Lech Lecha

This weeks Parsha is Lech Lecha. Hashem tells Avraham to go out of the country he grew up in and go to a place he does not know. What can we learn from this weeks Parsha?!?!
Hashem is not only talking to Avraham Avinu, he is talking to every single one of us. Why is the Torah making a big deal out of Lech Lecha? Ok, he left the place he grew up in, what about the other tests? What about the test were Avraham was thrown in the burning oven? He was thrown in the oven and survived! Imagine yourself having so much Emuna in Hashem and just going in to the fire? Why don`t we talk about this test so much? I heard the answer from Rabbi Wallerstein. He says that to give up your life for Hashem takes one second but living your life for Hashem takes 120 years. It means that it is much harder to life for G-d and doing Mitzvoth all your life than to die for G-d. That is this weeks Parsha all about. Hashem wants us to Lech Lecha. To go and learn and grow. Because if we are standing we are not growing. We can never get closer to Hashem when we do not pass his tests and we just sit at home and do not face the fact for what we are here in this world. Of course it is hard. Thats why it is one of the tests Hashem send Avraham. But if our father passed it with flying colors so we too have the strength to be a Avraham and to go out into the world and face it with all the difficulties.

And remember Hashem never send you a test that you can not pass. So next time you feel like giving up, just think of your inner strength you have from one of the biggest Tzaddikim that ever lived: Avraham Avinu!
