If you happened to be in Berlin for whatever reason, you may saw some beautiful synagogues while touring the city. You should know that most of these synagogues are Reform. That means the Rabbi there is a woman (most of the time) and is driving to the Shul on Shabbat. Now, do not get me wrong. I will not judge anybody on this planet but Berlin is really proud about being Reform, and that is what makes me really sad.
CORRECTION: THE SYNAGOGUE IN THE ORANIENBURGER STRAßE IS THE ONLY ONE WHERE A WOMAN IS A RABBI IN BERLIN.
The Jewish Community in Berlin (Jüdische Gemeinde zu Berlin) is supporting this movement with all its power. If you are a member of the community you are receiving a magazine every month called Jüdisches Berlin (Jewish Berlin). Its always full of article about the "hip" and "modern" Reform Movement. This edition they wrote an article about a girl who finished a " Rabbinical School" for being a "Rabbi". Everybody has a mission in life. A man has his task and a woman has her task. They are certain things a woman can NOT do and they are things a man can NOT do.
The Torah is the truth. If a human being starts turning Hashem`s Words for his or her own benefit it is not longer considered the truth.
Yes it is hard to be an Observant Jew. Yes it is hard to keep Shabbat and all the Mizvoth the proper way. But that is not the reason for inventing own Mizvoth. I personally do not want to pray in a Shul where a woman is a Rabbi.
You should know that the Reform movement started in Germany. Thy called Berlin and Frankfurt the new Jerusalem. They even wanted to change it in the Siddurim.
That is how assimilation starts...
Be Jewish and Be Proud of it
Lots of Blessings and Love

reform judaism is as much jewish as chabad , masorti , reconstructionist , traditional , liberal or any other jewish streams. if one doesnt like its liturgy its fine but saying that you dont consider it to be judaism is wrong.
every thought about chassidut ? is this judaism ?
as jews one should be reunited not divided .
jews should respect eachother cause there is no " real judaism " .
all streams developped over the centuries .
there is no " original judaism " .
you have to learn to accept others in their way of beeing jewish.
rabbinic judaism was the reform judaism during the temple time . give it a thought .
well prayers are men made . if the prayer is not anymore up-to-date with our ethics then one should not say it as a prayer. one should only pray sth. what one also believs in .
Wow, Arye this is some serious wrong stuff that you are writing.
First of all, HaShem gave us the Torah, He gave us Mizwoth and anyone who is not keeping those commandements is not following the Torah, not following G-D's will. Simply said this person is not keeping Judaism. Now, the Reform movement is not really interested in keeping Halacha. They don't even believe in Torah She'bal Pe. This makes them into apikoret, and it is forbidden for a Jew to enter a Reform 'Shul' for that reason. Rav Soloveitchik zt''l forbade to enter a Reform Shul even if this would be the only Shul in town and the Jew would have no other option to hear the Shofar on Rosh Hashana.
Being a Jew means accepting the written as well as oral Torah that Moshe gave us on Har Sinai, with Am Israel as wittnes.
The only way for Jews to be united is if we act as Jews and follow G-D's commandements. He made us a nation.
If others come and pervert the Torah according to their wishes and preferences we do have to stand up and say something. Anyone who tries to change the Torah is killing the Jewish people.
To say that our prayers from the Siddurim are not up-to-date with our ethics, hello? Where do our ethics come from? Do we have to adapt to the world or should the world adapt to us? We are a light unto the nations. Judaism gave moral and values to the world. The prayers of the Siddurim will always be up to date. They were written by men with Ruach Hakodesh. We are very very far away from that level. Most of the Jews don't even understand what the prayers are really about but they have the chuzpah to think they know better.
Aryeh, I am writting this as your sister, in peace. I also believe in unity and that we have to respect and love each other. But the Jewish ppl can not exist if we don't admit that the Torah is given by HaShem and that the Torah will eternally be Emet.
y wrong ? i know all what you r referring to .
i am well versed in the so called " orthodox " world.
the big question is : do you need to be fundamentalist to be jewish ?
do you really think that the judaism you practice is the one which was practiced 1000 of years ago? dont you think that judaism evolved ?
do you really think that moishe rabbenu came down from har sinai with shas?
judaism changed over the time , developped , adapted to the society we live in .
do you think we should practice skila ?
do you think we should have a third beis hamigdosh with animal sacrifices?
judaism has done a very good job in abolishing human and then later animal sacrifice by the means of prayers . this is universal and eternal .
orthodox judaism will change as well over the next years : rabbi avi weiss did a very important step in ordaining a female rabbi.
others will follow. educated frum orthodox women will change cause they will take part in activly in judaism.
i know the orthodox way of argumentations but you should bring some commen sense and scientific knowledge to the table as well.
apikores? rambam was an apikores - now loved . but one forgets that he was in favour of beating once wife .
we are only human so were the great sages , humans with failures - not perfect at all.
of course the torah is eternal and emes - but it really doesnt matter if it was given totally in the way we have it now or written down at a later point.
i am sure you r aware that our torah we have today is based on the text of version of ben-asher .
there are different versions of torah which have been found.
halacha means going or better way. its not stable . it always evovled over the centuries.
rabbinical judaism was the first reform judaism back at the temple time where as the sedukkim , essens and karaite jews didnt accept the fact that laws written in the torah arent to be ment wordly.
now adays most orthodox jews are stuck , dont move in the halache and take the place of the seduccim and karaites who only believes in the words of the talmud.
but the talmud and the commentaries have never been finished!
it goes on , for each generation to find its own ways and to talk over.
living in a state ruled by halacha is not desirebale : only a democratic and pluralistic society is the right way.
gut shabbes
Again, any stream that does not accept the Oral Torah can not be called Judaism. I am aware of the fact, that 1000 years ago we didn't have things like World Wide Web and that is why we need to come up with solutions that work within the Halachic framework. We don't delete from the Torah, we don't delete Halachot because we don't feel like living up to them.
This is what the reform movement does, they convert people in a not kosher way, letting them think they are Jewish when they are not, they claim not kosher meat to be kosher making people eat treyf, they allow ppl to drive to Shul on Shabbes, making people break Shabbat, they allow Gay marriages and even do so under a Chuppah!
Do you understand what is going on?
The fact that this community produced a female Rabbi is not because they are upfront with Geulah and because they are soo advanced. The opposite is the case, they came up with such a thing because they have no idea about Judaism.
Men and women have different Tikkunim. Women are on a higher Madrega in Judaism, we are spiritually more advanced. This is why we don't need to pray three times a day. We are already perfected on that level. Men have to work on it. They have to sit and learn to become the ideal, which women do already represent. There is plainly no need for a female Rabbi. But if a women still feels like it, fine, but first, learn to be a woman! Someone who doesn't know Gemarrah, doesn't know Halacha doesn't what the Torah is talking about wants to become a Rabbi? Well, how will this Rabbi be able to make any valuable decision?
I would like to see the source for calling the holy Rambam an apikoret and where he said that is it a good thing to beat your wife.
And yes, Moshe brought the Shas down. Shas is the Oral Law.
Shavua Tov
shavua tov ,
i know all of this my dear friend.
i consider neither way - left ( reform / liberal ) or right ( orthodox ) as the true torah way. every stream has its short commings .
the middle way is as almost always the right choice.
but nevertheless , beeing of the oppionion that a stream within judaism does not represent judaism is wrong to say.
as i told you before i am totally aware of argumentaion of the orthodox stream. but lets be honest : that is bubbe-meises.
do you really believe that halache has been ruled in a vacuum ? do u really think that society , social status of women at those times didnt play any role ? do you really believe in this wrong male and female image of those times ?
so a basically who doesnt daven , no teffilin , no talmud-torah no tzizis
is a wild animal ? only the mitzwes restrain him from beeing a wicked person ?
do u really think that men think 24/7 about sex ?
do u really think that a woman doesnt have any sexuality ? no feelings seeing a nicely dressed man / rabbi ? do you really think that the voice of men doesnt give women any sexual thought ?
do you think its only the other way round ?
if u do u follow a very wrong and def. old-fashioned way of thinking .
yes women and men are different - biology is different , hormons are different , thought are different . that is totally true.
but men and women have same rights .
some women are on a very high madreaga , some arent , same with men.
you cant say that all women are naturally higher than a man when it comes to their relationship with hashem.
ever thought y the sages came up with that ?
every thought that by telling the woman that she is on such a high level of spirituality and that she doesnt need to do any time bound mitwes , she would be easier convinced to the work she is supposed to :
cleaning , cooking , children ?
i think you ignorent if u you think that the image of women in the torah and shas havent been influenced by its society status of its times.
what does it mean to be a woman ? what would she need to learn ?
so its ok for a woman to be a doctor ? a lawyer ? a prime minister ?
but beeing a rabbi not?
its because she doesnt do it with the right intention ? only for the kavod ?
let me tell you one thing : do u really think that if a man gets aliyah or talks as a rabbi infront of the kehilla doesnt feel kavod ? doesnt thing wow i am great ?!
there r men who do , there r men who dont . you cant generalize - same with women .
dont get me wrong , i dont fight for the liberal movement to be THE right movement. i just say that all movement have their strength and weaknesses .
well here are the quotes from rambam :
Rambam, Laws of Interpersonal Relations, perek 21, halacha 7: "We find that every woman performs five tasks for her husband. She spins, washes his face, hands, and legs, pours his drink, makes the bed, and serves him. There are six tasks some women do and some don't: grind and bake and cook, wash, nurse children, and feed the animals."
Halacha 10: "Any woman who does not do the tasks which she is obligated to do is forced, even with a stick."
The Rabad meforesh on this: "I have never heard of hitting a woman with a stick, but one reduces the necessities given to her and her food until she gives in."
so this what it is : the jewish tradition is rich of wisdom and was , is and will be g-dly insprired. but we r humans and we make mistakes - in every sense. we can only strive to perfect our self and to make all our daily actions kadosh.
rambam was a great scholar - but he had short commings like every human beeing.
he lived in his social environment and was def. influenced by it.
nothing wrong with it ! but today we have another structure of society -
baruch hashem we have democracy in most parts of the world!
i want to give you one thought for the new week :
torah is not black and withe - not right or wrong - there r lots of shades of grey and colour.
the key for bringing moshiach is respecting one another . excepting one anothers ways of living .
the ethics of har sinai are not changeable but the way we worship hashem has changed lots of times during history .
or do u believe we had shuls in the time of the first beis hamigdosh ?
do u think our " jewish " month have been given by hashem ?
they r babylonian .
have a chodesh tov kislev !
