Being Thankful

HaRav Shalom Arush

My dear readers,

I am sorry for not posting regularly but I am b"h busy at the moment.
In the train on my way to school today, I saw all these really tired people making a long face.
Suddenly there was a woman that was smiling. I don't know why, but out of all this tired and
sad people there suddenly was a woman who was happy and smiling. And I thought wait?!?!
Isn`t that suppost to be my job? I am the Jew in this train. I should be the light to shine out of all this people. Why I am not smiling? Why I am like the rest of the train making a long face. I sad to
myself that this has to change. I told  Hashem; Today I will thank you for every tiny like thing
I usually take for granted. Today I will thank you for all the things that I usually complain about.
Today I will be HAPPY!!!

I did it the whole day long. as I walked on the street I sad Hashem thank you for giving me two
legs, Thank you for giving me shoes, Thank you for giving me a coat so I don`t freeze, and so
on. You can really do that with everything. First it may sound silly but it really works.
As you say it the whole day long you start internalizing that LOVE for everyone in your heart.

Also thank Hashem for the seemingly bad. A guy made a stupid comment. At first a slight feeling of Anger came into my heart but then I told myself NO, thank you Hashem for that stupid comment.

Jews are a nation of Thanks-Giving. No other nation in the world has so many Brachot: before and after food; after the bathroom; after hearing a thunder; after waking up; before going to bed... We should be the light to the nations,we should be the one sitting in the train and smiling until the face muscles hurt. We have all this beautiful gifts every single day and we ignore them and take them for granted.

I highly recommend everyone who reads this to try it at least one day. You have nothing to loose. Just try it and you will see the results.

I wish you the most beautiful week and don`t forget to smile

P.S I have installed a music player with Israeli songs on it if you want to find out anything about the artists please let me know.

Thank you for the uplifting words. Sitting in the train is usually a challenge when it comes to being happy. If you manage to feel uplifted after a long day of work while sitting in the U-Bahn and being pretty bored, you deserve a Chazak u Baruch.
